Court sends Arnab Goswami to 14 days Judicial custody, rejected his assault charges.


 (Sindh Tribune) : Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has been arrested in a case of allegedly forcing a 53-year-old interior designer to commit suicide in 2018.  A team of Alibagh police arrested Arnab Goswami from his Lower Prairie House this morning, the police official said.  Arnab Goswami was pushed by the police and put in a police van.  Arnab Goswami claimed that police raided his house before arresting him.  "When we arrived to arrest him, his wife tore up the arrest warrants," the police official said.  Arnab Goswami was produced in a local court which directed the police to take him to Seoul Hospital for a medical check-up.  After a medical check-up, Arnab Goswami was brought back to court.  The court remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days.


 Attack on female police, FIR against Arnab Goswami

 An FIR has been registered against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.  He is accused of allegedly attacking a female police officer who was part of a police team that arrived at his residence in Mumbai.  It is alleged that Arnab touched the chest of a female police officer.  Mumbai police have arrested Arnab Goswami this morning.  He is accused of forcing interior designer Anne Naik and his mother Kamud Naik to commit suicide in 2018.


 Editors Guild of India strongly condemns Arnab's arrest

  The Editors Guild of India on Wednesday morning strongly condemned the arrest of Arnab Goswami, editor of the Republic TV channel in Mumbai, calling it a "worrying act".  We are all shocked by the sudden arrest of Arnab Goswami in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, and strongly condemn the incident.  In a release issued by Guild President Seema Mustafa and General Secretary Sanjay Kapoor, the Guild appealed to the Maharashtra government to treat Arnab Goswami with respect.  Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Jawdekar today strongly condemned the arrest of Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, saying it reminded us of the emergency.


 Arnab's arrest is a reminder of the emergency

  Union Home Minister Amit Shah has termed the arrest of Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV, as an attack on freedom of the press, saying it reminded him of the state of emergency.  Later, various central government ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders tweeted and condemned it. Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted, "Congress and its allies have once again embarrassed democracy.
