(Sindh Tribune) : Judicial Magistrate Eastern District heard the case against Captain (retd) Safdar for desecration of Mazar-e-Quaid and granted him bail of Rs. 100,000.
Following the expiration of time, the court ordered Captain Safdar's lawyers to deposit Rs. 100,000 in cash instead of bail bonds.
The court also ordered to seize and forensicize the plaintiff Waqas' mobile phone.
PML-N and PTI lawyers got entangled with each other
When the hearing on the case of desecration of Mazar-e-Quaid began in the city court, the court inquired about the whereabouts of the accused and why he was not produced. The lawyers said that our client was arrested at 8 am but has not been produced yet.
The lawyers said that a political case has been made and the police are not deliberately presenting it.
During the hearing, the PML-N and PTI lawyers got entangled and kept running over each other in front of the judge in the court room, after which the court silenced the lawyers and the parties and said that they would hear the arguments if custody came. ۔
Capt. (R) Safdar was then taken by armor to the City Court by the police, after which Capt. (R) Safdar was produced before the Judicial Magistrate, East Wazir Memon, where an attempt was made to remand him. Accepted his bail.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz also claimed in a press conference that Captain (R) Safdar has been granted bail after which he will leave Karachi for Lahore at the same time.
Strict security arrangements in the city court
Police put Capt (R) Safdar in armor to take him to court from Aziz Bhatti police station. A large number of PML-N workers were present on the occasion and surrounded the armor.
A heavy contingent of police was deployed on the spot which drove the armored vehicle between the workers.
Police say the case filed by Waqas includes 200 people, including death threats, damage to government property and violations of the Mazar-e-Quaid Act.
It may be recalled that Maryam Nawaz had reached Karachi yesterday to attend the PDM meeting where Captain Safdar had chanted slogans of 'Respect the Vote' at Mazar-e-Quaid, after which the federal ministers apologized to Maryam Nawaz for this move. What was demanded?
PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh had reached the police station to register a case on the matter but the case was registered at the request of a citizen.
