[Fact Check] TV channels claim to have arrested the main culprit of the motorway incident, find out the real facts.


[Fact Check] : 

A woman was gang-raped on a motorway in Gujjarpura area of Lahore between Tuesday and Wednesday night. Police have since launched an investigation, in which a suspect's DNA was matched. But at the same time, fake news is being spread on social media and electronic media about this incident. A private TV channel reported that the main accused in the case had been arrested, but government spokesman Dr Shahbaz Gul denied it.

Dr. Shahbaz Gul, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Relations, said that the DNA of the accused in the motorway rape case has been matched and the arrest in this regard will be made soon. in this regard, he said that the Punjab Chief Minister was "with the IG and CCPO" till 4 pm and "the Chief Minister has monitored the whole case himself". It may be recalled that since Saturday morning, there were reports in the local media that the police had matched the DNA of the accused, however, the matter could not be confirmed by official sources. After the news broke on the media, Inspector General of Punjab Inam Ghani said that no accused has been arrested in the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway rape case. A statement sent to the media from the IG Punjab's office said that the news on various TV channels and social media regarding the arrest of the accused was false and untrue.

IG Punjab has said that he is personally monitoring the investigation of this case and will inform the media about any success. "Such unconfirmed news not only affects the case but is also misleading to the public. The pictures of the accused and the woman being shared on social media are also false and fake." "I request the media representatives not to run any news without confirmation and I also request the people to have faith in us. We will soon arrest the culprits and bring them to justice," he added. On the other hand, Provincial Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan in a statement on Saturday morning expressed hope that the case would be brought to a logical conclusion in a few hours and the rapists would be arrested.
