(Sindh Tribune) : Karachi's special anti-terrorism court ruled on the Baldia Factory tragedy eight years later.
The court in its verdict sentenced two accused Rehman Bhola and Zubair Charia to death while acquitting the mastermind of the Baldia factory fire case Rauf Siddiqui, Adib Khanum, Ali Hassan Qadri and Abdul Sattar.
The court acquitted the four accused for lack of evidence while convicting the other four accused for facilitation.
The anti-terrorism court reserved judgment on September 2 after hearing arguments from the parties.
It may be recalled that a fire broke out in a textile factory of the municipality in September 2012 in which more than 250 people were burnt alive.
In December 2016, Rehman alias Bhola, an accused in the Baldia factory case, was arrested from Bangkok with the help of Interpol and transferred to Karachi.
Abdul Rehman Bhola had admitted in his statement that he had set fire to the Baldia factory at the request of Hamad Siddiqui.
Later, on October 27, 2017, Hamad Siddiqui, the main accused in the Baldia Factory tragedy, was arrested from Dubai.
