Bashir Khan Qureshi, born on August 10, 1959, is considered one of the leading leaders of the Sindhi Nationalist Movement. He played an active role in the movement for an independent Sindh from the platform of Jiye Sindh Qaumi Mahaz Party after participating in student politics.
Prior to his martyrdom, Bashir Qureshi had led a historic march called 'Sindh Freedom March' in Karachi, Sindh, which was attended by an estimated millions of people.
He called on the United Nations in the Sindh Freedom March to help the people of Sindh and Balochistan while respecting their views on independence.
Bashir Khan Qureshi died on April 7, 2012, while Sindhi nationalist circles claim that he was martyred by poisoning by state institutions.
