Islamabad: Firdous Ashiq has been replaced by Lt. Gen. (retd) Asim Bajwa as Special Assistant

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Senator Shibli Faraz has been appointed Minister for Information and Broadcasting while Special Assistant to Information Firdous Ashiq Awan has been withdrawn.

Firdous Ashiq Awan has been replaced by C-Pac Authority Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa as the new Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information.

Confirming the change in the federal cabinet through a tweet, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Shibli Faraz and Asim Saleem Bajwa would form a better team together.

The government's cabinet reshuffle notification is likely to be issued soon.

However, the change was first announced by Fawad Chaudhry, a former information and science minister.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had appointed Senator Shibli Faraz as Leader of the House in the Senate in August 2018.

He was elected a senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2015 on a PTI ticket.

Shibli Faraz has served in the Upper House as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Textiles and Commerce and the Standing Committee on Revolving Credit.

Shibli Faraz is the son of renowned Pakistani poet Faraz Ahmad Faraz.

On the other hand, Lt. Gen. (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa held other important positions before his retirement, including Director General (DG), DG Arms and Commander Southern Command of the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR).

In November last year, the federal government cleared him.  She was appointed chairperson of the China Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.

More details are being added to the news.
