British regulators fine Arnab Gosswami's Republic Bharat TV over hate speech against Pakistanis.


 (Sindh Tribune) : According to the British TV Regulatory Authority, the comments made by guests on Arnab Goswami's show 'Poochta Hai Bharat' on Republic Bharat TV in September 2019 were insulting and full of hate speech against Pakistani nationals, causing the channel to  A fine of about Rs 2 million has been imposed on him.

In a detailed decision, the Office of the Com said that the Republic Bharat TV's  "Poochta Hai Bharat" program, which is the prime time show of the channel's editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, violated broadcasting rules. According to Ofcom, in an episode shown on September 6, 2019, the anchor and some of his guests used vulgar language and insulted Pakistani citizens. He said that the content of the show was also worthy. There was an objection and it was not appropriate in this context. The program was aired on the occasion when last year the Government of India abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two Union Territories. This has soured relations between India and Pakistan.
